In September, a team from Aberdeen aim to collectively cover 4176 miles; the distance from Aberdeen to India. We will be travelling (collecting) miles using a range of activities like walking, running, swimming and cycling to raise £4176. Our aim is to raise £1/mile, £4,176, to for the Akshaya Patra Foundation, a non-governmental organisation based in Bangalore, India. The foundation serves mid-day free school meals to over 1.8 million children from 19,039 schools across 12 states and 2 Union territories of India. Since the COVID-19 crisis began, Akshaya Patra foundation has additionally supported millions of vulnerable people including migrant workers, older people in care homes, as well as children who rely on mid-day school free meals. This has been in close partnership with state governments and district administrations across India in the states of Rajasthan, Gujarat, NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Haryana, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Odisha. As the impact of COVID-19 crisis continues to increase it is important to ensure this invaluable support continues. Together we can make a small contribution to the biggest global challenge we are facing in this millennium. In India, each meal during COVID 19 lockdown costs 25 pence. Please help us reach our goal. As of 15th September, the team that includes couple of children covered 2256 miles.
